Mentioned freud in the first few pages, unethical therapy practices, and a poorly written female character written by a male author. The intellect of the readers is continually insulted through the internal dialougue of the narrator with redundant explanations of common sense ideas. Chapters were only like three pages long??? Ive never dnf'd a book this fast.daybreakreads's review against another edition

I actually suspected the right person early on (ultimately for the wrong reason), but mostly dismissed it because of a very powerful red herring (even though I at one point suspected the red herring as being such). I would say the true ending would be very difficult if not impossible to guess the first time through; I almost want to re-read it again now that I know how it ends.
The audiobook was fascinating to listen to; they used a different voice actor for the alternate perspective.

Initially intriguing but quickly got repetitive and almost boring. Only the short length of the book made me finish it. The men presented as suspicious have similar backgrounds
The twist at the end (for the motivation at least) was surprising but there was no connection to any of the characters and too many heavy-handed obvious red herrings that I wasn't even interested enough to guess at
In summary, this book is "Daddy issues and the (two-dimensional) women who pay for it."

Inclusion of Greek mythology
English phraseology
Psychological twists
Cons:
A little slow in the middle
Somewhat flat characters
very little diversity
I am glad I read it but I preferred The Silent Patient

ALSO, WHY IS ONE OF THE CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK WITH NO OTHER FANTASY ELEMENTS A PSYCHIC? i thought that him knowing things he shouldn't know about the main character would turn out to mean he's been stalking her or something*, but nope, he's just psychic. hello???????
* he does also literally stalk her later in the book but don't worry about it it's fine when he does it because he's the Nice Guy Love Interest <3
anyway. been a while since a book sucked so bad it made me feel like i was losing my mind, so. thanks. for that.
