is there smut? no, however, there is mention of sex but no description. 

Will I be reading the next book? Unsure. After two books from this author, the first being the silent patient, I am becoming acutely aware of how he enjoys putting his female characters in positions where they think they become paranoid - when they are, in fact, not. It's like every man (literally more than one male character per book harasses the main women) becomes a threat to his female characters. It's not only annoying, but it should not be used as entertainment. I thought it created great context in the silent patient, and felt that it was totally unnecessary in the maidens. To me, it did not add to the general ambiance or lifted the storyline. As a woman, please stop. 

However, I did enjoy the story. The plot was a bit more predictable, albeit not completely. Loved the little wink at the silent patient by meeting Theo.

NO BECAUSE THIS WAS SO EFFING CRAZY. This year, I have been on a really big kick of contemporary retellings of Greek Mythology. I must say, I wasn't quite expecting the books to be this dark and twisted but I was totally into it. I don't normally re-read books, but I would read this again just to pick up on some things that I missed before. The twist was absolutely shocking. I mean, I was totally shook. The writing was great and entertaining from beginning to end. The short chapters are a favorite of mine. I will say, check the trigger warnings before reading this book because there are a lot of dark things that occur.

If you’re into mythology, the references throughout this might give you a kick. I finished it in a day - less because it was unputdownable but more because I wanted to be finished with it quickly. The dark academia vibes were there, but I was left wanting more. Daddy issues are hard to sustain for 335 pages.
