Really fun to see Harris flex all the research he did in crafting the alternate history in this novel. I had read Selling Hitler before coming to this book which added an interesting layer- some names felt like Easter Eggs. And also what a smart move to centre the story away from the man with the notorious reputation. Putting the reader at ground level, with a detective who likes to gets his hands dirty, was a smart choice for an avatar that contributes to the immersive experience of this alternate world.
