A very interesting analysis of the role British women played as volunteers in the Spanish Civil War - not a perspective that much has been written about previously. Very interesting, wit lots of accounts of first-hand experiences. Angela Jackson has put together a well-researched, moving study.

QUOTATIONS I LIKED:
"...this is a war where the workers are fighting against their one-time masters, and there is no hatred like the vindictive hatred of the master when the slave has rebelled. There is no hatred like that of the property class who see their property and privileges threatened by the workers who want to do away with property and privileges for all time."
