An enjoyable read, perfect for summer days! I loved the multiple POVs told from three different people as they find themselves on Block Island. Starting as strangers, writer Anthony, a baker named Joy, and exhausted Mom Lu, each character finds themselves intertwined over the next few weeks while staying on the island.
Maybe close to 5 stars! I loved this so much. Felt like I sunk into a great summer read, without it being too light and frilly. Loved all the characters. Great plot lines for all three. Redemptive. Loved reading about Lu’s struggles with motherhood. Seemed so real. An unexpected win!
This was such an easy read and I flew through this book! Definitely an easy beach read
I loved everything about this book: the character development, the intricate stories for each person, the atmosphere of one of my favorite places on Earth (Block Island). It was perfect- it had a little mystery, a little romance, some family drama, and some empowering storylines.
Also, whoopie pies. It had whoopie pies. Yum.
It was the perfect weekend read leading into summer, and I read it cover-to-cover in one day. Absolutely delightful.
It started kind of slow but then I couldn't put down!!
"Block Island is just south of mainland Rhode Island."
Interesting story lines, cleverly woven.
The awkward similes (Many) and some metaphors (Some) are distracting.
