Jeta është gjithnjë tjetërkund. Jaromili e kërkonte tek e ëma, larg së ëmës, te piktori, larg piktorit, te Magda, larg Magdës, tek e dashura flokëkuqe, larg saj, te regjizorja, larg saj, te poezia, shumë larg poezisë.
Jaromili si të gjithë ne vërtitet në një dhomë pasqyrash, ku çdo sy na përshfaq ndryshe dhe na bën ta dashurojmë apo përçmojmë pamjen tonë.
Krejt si një figurinë plasteline, ai mbrujtet pjesë pjesë me copëza nga shumë personazhe: fytyra e Mamasë, fjalët e Gjyshit, idetë e Piktorit, parimet e tjetërkujt. Në fund ai mbetet një Arlekin, një njeri i krijuar me copëza të huazuara e të qepura pa rend e pa fantazi, gati i paformë sepse kurrë nuk arriti të pranojë ato që dëshironte në shpirt, u përpoq të shfaqej si dikush që nuk qe, nuk guxoi të mendojë me mendjen e tij.
Një personazh antipatik, i rrethur gjithnjë nga zëri dhe hija e Mamasë, përjetësisht i zënë në çarkun e kotësisë dhe budallallëkut. Jeta e shëmtuar e Jaromilit është shpeshherë një nga pasqyrat ku shofim veten tonë.

It's starts off slow, but around page fifty it picks up and then is interesting to the end.
