Too heavy and angsty for me. I read romance books to get away from the really deep heavy feelings. I have enough of my own. Only light angst for me.

At 32% I had to skim through almost the whole book to see the biggest problems, meaning the book was super triggering to my anxiety.

As much as her books may be recommended, I’m afraid Riley Hart books may not be for me. I’m going to give one or two more of her books a try before giving up.

Like I said in my update this really reminded me of Riley’s early work (which was my favorite) so I enjoyed it a lot. The connection and steam were there along with a more mature tone that I’ve missed from her recent work.

Another impulse pick up for me on Kindle Unlimited.

In Endless Stretch of Blue, Lorenzo and Damon are connected after they both lose people in a fire in a club and neither one of them is handling it well. The two of them strike up a friendship which turns into a deep connection between them. They have to learn how to deal with the tragedy of what happened at the club as well as reaction to their relationship as both had previously been with women before.

I really liked it. I liked the relatively slow progression of their friendship as they slowly start to realise they were would prefer to be with the other person over anyone else and then it develops into a romantic relationship. Conflict seemed to arise naturally as they both struggled to figure out what they were now and how would they approach it for their coworkers, friends and family. I enjoyed seeing Damon and Lorenzo having to deal with their families, both of them having their own struggles regarding them.

This book does have the Gay For You trope but it was done in a way which I quite liked. Lorenzo doesn't like to label himself and is happy to label his attraction to guys being Damon only but Damon is more than happy to call himself biseuxal and they have a little discussion about labels about partway through the book. There wasn't a lot of internalised homophobia or anything like that which I was very glad about.

This was a surprisingly enjoyable book and it makes me want to check out more of the author's backlist.

4 stars!

I read this book. Gushed about it. Kept thinking about it. Couldn't bring myself to delete it from my KU even when I needed the space. Decided to reread it.... And then just bought it. Seeing as I almost NEVER spend money on books (unless you count my KU subscription), this is a Big Deal. Any now I'm writing a review, which again I almost never do. Everything about this book calls to me, the writing is damn near flawless, the characters are so real. I love the progression of the relationship, that it takes months and months and some hard work instead of a more traditional romance that have maybe a couple weeks at best before they admit they love each other. With one exception, I didn't feel like I missed anything when the book jumped ahead a few weeks at a time. Ugh. It's just so perfect. I'm sure I'll be rereading it again many times down the line!
