For anyone who has had a complicated relationship with a sibling (everyone) this is an incredibly honest examination of Diane’s years with her brother. A couple of events may bring out the judgment, however, this is her narrative, her truth. To love someone so deeply through all their flaws and yours brings about great heartbreak and no greater need for understanding.

An interesting memoir from an actor as it doesn’t focus too much on her career.

I really enjoyed this book. The poetry written by Randy (Diane’s Brother) is some of the most beautiful poetry I ever read.

I really enjoyed all of the letters that were included within this book from the entire family. It really expressed everyone’s concern for one another, especially Randy.

This really makes me want to look at some of his collages and other poems / poetry books.

I highly recommend this book, it’s short, sweet, and really makes you think and appreciate family and loved ones.

I was really hoping for more out of this memoir. It was a quick and interesting read, but ultimately, I was left wanting more. I know Diane had to piece together much of this thru journals and letters and art after the passing of her mother and Randy buy there were moments when I questions if I was reading a story about a brother & sister relationship or if I was reading a story about Diane Keaton and which movie she was filming next. I felt that the name drops of her famous boyfriends and whether her movies were a success or a hit felt rather narcissistic in a memoir that otherwise didn't need that information. My heart hurt for Randy and the whole family, but I felt like I was promised something on the jacket that I didn't actually get in the end. I wanted to learn how my brother and I, although born into the same family, have so many different memories and experiences and how to get through those differences for a better relationship, I didn't get that.
