Wow, that's certainly a very different reading experience. Right from the start it tells you about the world and how the creator of the universe is the narrator. with illustrations and odd facts about the world throughout.
Vonnegut somehow excels at this, though deviating from his usual style. Had to restart it after a break as i lost my thread haha

I understand that this is not for everyone, but I liked it. john Malkovich does a great job reading the book in his monotone. It fits with the jumpy style where the end of one sentence leads to a completely new topic in another. I'm conditioned enough to cringe at the n-word and don't know enough about Vonnegut to know whether it is used in a racist way or satirising racism (I suspect the latter, but could have done without the word).
This is my third Vonnegut story. I'm sure if I had read him in the 70's I would have been more in tune with his way of writing.
He's a good writer, he can keep you moving along, but ultimately I just kept thinking that it didn't really speak to me.

Graphic: Racial slurs
Once again in reviewing Vonnegut I'm reminded what it is like to be the exception to the rule, the lone wolf, the outcast and the dissenter. As previously., I am utterly underwhelmed with this repetitive babble that one always expects to lead to something significant, but ,alas, never does. I don't find it funny, or witty or clever, just obvious. My fourth Vonnegut book and I'm done for good- Good riddance - 1 star

It’s a gothic? Maybe? Intensely circular. Good resolves and call backs. Incredibly nuanced. It turned me into a Vonnegut fan.
