I did not love this book. I keep trying Vonnegut, and he never seems to click with me as he does with others. This novel is just odd, with the characters in the book interacting with the author ( as a character), random drawings in the book, and a plot that is interleaved with summaries of off the wall sci fi novels by Vonnegut’s recurring Kilgore Trout. The main “plot” with a car salesman losing his mind didn’t really mesh with anything else going on. There’s some clever wordplay and some sharp humor throughout but it never really came together for me.
very interesting book. i think i love it but there's some stuff i really don't like
I can't tell whether I find Vonnegut annoying or not.

My first Vonnegut book. Probably my last. I have to admit, my main thought as I finished the book was "total waste of time".

My first Vonnegut novel. Very easy reading that was also super funny and clever in a cheeky sort of way throughout. Will not be my last Vonnegut-- I feel sad I did not read him sooner. I'm happy that he was so prolific and that I now have a lot more interesting books to check out. I could see myself rereading this one soon. Breakfast of Champions is the kind of book that gets you excited about reading.
