I thought the novel was comedic and clever, but the conflict between Kilgore Trout and Dwayne Hoover was a bit anti-climatic. The meta-fictional aspects of the novel are used to great effect, making it an intriguing exploration of craft, but not thoroughly developed work of literature. I thought the Slaughter House-Five was better.

4 stars mainly for chapters 19 and onward

Vonnegut's writing style kept me entertained beginning to end, but the ending itself of this one was a little lacking to me. I still enjoyed it far more than I didn't and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of A Confederacy of Dunces, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, or Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

The way that Vonnegut writes is delicious, and intertwining and amazing in this humorous and recurring way. This book was great except it was just slightly slow in some parts. The way the illustrations are incorporated was very comedic.
