this was batshit insane i have no idea how to rate this so it'll sit comfortably at a 2.5 stars i didn't hate it but i also would never recommend it

also this book has a lot of trigger warnings that the author decided to leave as a surprise /s they're pretty heavy: pedophilia (first chapter) graphic, wlw fetishization, rape (chapter 17 and 30) graphic, intense cult trauma, sexual assault, violence against women, grooming, incest

i love this book

I liked the story, okay, hear me out. I loved the plot, the characters, the development. I just didn’t feel any connections. The spice was great the humor, great. But I like some fire with my spice, and I felt this could have used a little bit more
dark emotional medium-paced

actual trigger/content warnings for everyone who needs them (and not the bullshit “general trigger warning” the author gives at the start of the books): rape, pedophilia, statutory rape, misogyny, extreme internalized homophobia, drug use, religious cults

long story short; don’t read this. the characters are awful, aura is treated like an object and something that can be owned by every single person in this book, the relationship is terribly toxic and uncomfortable, the infodumps and writing are just so poor, and the author is literally unable to go a single chapter without the word “fuck” being used at least 10 times (seriously, please learn some other words to describe how your characters are feeling). oh, and the graphic descriptions of rape aren’t making it any better.

This book will change you...

"Corruption and poison were our catalysts, transforming us into the people we were always meant to become"

I went into this book not having read anything by Liza or an FF romance and now I need more of both. Ruby and Aura have so much chemistry they jump off the page and into your heart, you feel EVERYTHING they do, their relationship is intense from the first meeting, so powerful neither of them stand a chance to stop it happening.

I have so much I want to say but I don't want to spoil the experience. Just believe me when I say this book will change your view on love, on yourself. I feel powerful and most of all I feel free.

I honestly had no idea what to expect with this book going in. I got it in a book box, and had never read this author before. While there is some sort of a warning page in the book, it doesn’t give any specifics. I am a reader who has very little triggers, so none of what happened in this book bothered me, but it definitely could trigger others. This story is intriguing and unlike anything I’ve ever read, which I really enjoyed. Aura and Ruby are such incredible characters and I love seeing their growth. They both come into their own throughout the story, that’s for sure. There were a few spelling mistakes, which is understandable as we’re all human, but overall it was a really good story.
