um i have some questions.

1. why were there cults? is this riverdale or some shit?

2. what was that writing style??? you can’t write smut with weirdly purple prose and then swearing every other word, pick one. do you want this to be a trashy smut book or a literary masterpiece? because it can’t be both.

3. why was every single person part of the cult? and then at the end the cult is just *gone*??? what?

4. what was the setting of this, because i’m so confused. how did we get to a club to a cult-y field with sacrifices?

5. why were the characters (first) saying they hated each other and calling each other sluts, (second) fucking in the shower, and (third) saying that they loved each other? all in the span of 5 minutes?

6. why were the smut scenes placed in the most weird and random places throughout the book honestly

7. ummmmm why was this kinda good sometimes

Holy shit, I don’t even know where to begin... Vibe was wow, just wow. I went in expecting one book and what I got was something completely different and utterly mind blowing. Liza did the damn thing!

The chemistry between Ruby & Aura is fucking amazing. Their relationship was gritty, toxic, and raw. Don’t let this being FF fool you, this is everything you could have want in a dark romance.

Y’all need to read this ASAP, it’s so worth putting off the rest of your TBR for!

Too much for me, but I did love this quote:
"God, she's like my drug. One hit and I was already addicted. One breath and it was like my lungs felt full for the very first time."

Vibed out

I was enjoying this book and feeling appropriately creeped out by Aura’s backstory and angered by the injustices of our world, but did it go off the rails as we went further in or was it just me that was baffled by some decisions both heroines made and tired of the constant, almost gratuitous violence? I get that Aura’s trauma made her susceptible to certain bad decisions etc, but I was still unconvinced by her sheer lack of self preservation. Or Ruby’s. I don’t know, I really wanted to be gutted by their story, but there was just so much despair I was numb? And then the ending just felt hastily tied up so we got even less happy times with the couple. Also, the editing. A guy’s name just changed midway through the book and if I never read the words energy and vibe on page again it’ll be too soon. Sigh, this teaches me to pick up a random book off my tbr with zero knowledge about it. Maybe the time just wasn’t right for this one. Because I did like the well, vibe between Aura and Ruby and they really do set the stage and the kindle on fire.

Trigger Warnings - it would probably be easier to list what wasn’t here, so please be cautious. This is dark.

Actual 4.5 - dropped some of the star rating as the Insta love threw me but their vibe and connection was one thing I wholeheartedly understood.

This was consuming. It was heartbreaking, raw, and so powerful. This was more than a F/F taboo romance - it was a story of realizing you do not have to become the product of your environment, that you are not destined to become someone you do not want to be just because you are told you need to be.

It was one of redemption, betrayal, love, and trauma. It was perfection.
