SPOILING THE WHOLE RESOLUTION OF THE MYSTERY!
I'm just so tired of the cool teacher sleeping with his female students and then killing them. Ugh.
But I definitely appreciate the deliberately diverse representation and that Wlosok tied every loose end in the end. I'd forgotten all about identifying the girl Nathan was cheating with after that chaotic climax and resolution. I would've liked a little more back story with the mother; she was such a throwaway character who only served as a plot device to further other elements of the story. It didn't feel like Iris really mourned her. Even if mourning an abusive parent is complicated, I feel like a very young adult should've had a little more conflict. But I will concede that the mystery surrounding her sister's disappearance demanded all of her focus.
I struggled with the pacing and Delphine being such a heavy handed red herring. I feel like we wasted a lot of time looking at her. And while a real investigation includes a lot of dead ends and misdirects, it made for a cluttered narrative, in my entirely irrelevant opinion.
