I didn’t see that ending, holy shit. The characters felt so natural this was a Quick and Easy read. Also bonus points for Pansexual Rep.

Yes I liked this! Was it believable? No. Was it a good book? Debatable for the first half, yes for the other half. But I liked this queer thing.

This book was a little much in the beginning, not enough in the middle and a bit too much again in the end. The beginning kind of made me understand what straight people mean when they say "you can be queer but just don't shove it in my face"...like...it made so much sense to read that the author wrote this when they were a senior in highschool themselves bc these characters truly acted like the teenagers they were in a way that just annoyed me a little. It felt like people that won't believe you're queer because you don't know a certain musical artist...it got a bit better and I was actually curious to find out what happened...then a bit disappointed bc the culprit was VERY easy to call if you've read a single thriller / crime novel set in high school, but then the confession was just a little much. I was also a little annoyed that the fact that the mc live streamed all of it was not mentioned in her pov AT ALL during the fact. That just felt like bad writing tbh to surprise the reader? It just felt a bit lazy, like a quick wrap-up. And then the confession itself was also so...not nuanced at ALL. it just became a lot and a bit confusing even though it wasn't complicated at all. Finally, I also felt a bit annoyed that the reader didn't really have a chance to guess what happened bc so many clues were kept for so long and then everything was dropped only during the climax. Just a bit disappointing overall, even if the concept was good.

I thought this was a lot of fun. It definitely has queer Veronica Mars vibes which I am here for. You have to suspend disbelief because high school kids wouldn't be able to do half the things in this book, but that just adds to the Veronica Mars of it all. There are two mysteries in the book that are clearly linked, and the MC has close links to both missing girls. And, of course, the most recent missing girl hosted a podcast about the disappearance of the other one. And there's an ex- best friend who is also a teen reporter with dyed white hair in the mix. You can either roll with it and have fun or not. I could definitely see it being turned into a Netflix movie/show.
