Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book!

This book hooked me from the very beginning. I loved the characters and it was easy to feel connected to them. The book was really faced pace which all thrillers should be to keep my attention!

The second I read the blurb my mind went to A good girls guide to murder and this has taken some inspiration from that series, which for me is a plus!

I was shocked finding this was her debut because it was so good

If you like one of us is lying and a good girls guide to murder I recommend this book. It was very good and I will be buying a physical copy of this on release day!

I should probably be grateful that it's been a bit of time since I read AGGGTM because this book has a very very similar vibe and story logic, it even has a podcast in the centre of the plot. If I had read the books back-to-back I would probably have been oversaturated and more likely to compare the two books. 🤔
Massive respect to the author who wrote a nice book in high school and got it published by 20 (I feel so unfulfilled 😆), very well done! 😊
I mostly enjoyed the mystery, although the rats started to show themselves to me pretty early on. Iris was a bit obnoxious with all her lone wolf act that was at times harmful to all her friends. And for a great detective she basically didn't detect much but mostly either stumbled into stuff or had the insanely good support of her team. Yet the ending action scenes were nice and she came out decisively strong and smart. 😊
Overall not a bad book, I had a good time with it and I am open to reading other books by this author. 😊

This was a great read! First on my list of books I have for Pride Month! If you’re a fan of A Good Girls Guide to Murder or stories about friends solving mysteries together definitely check it out.
dark tense fast-paced

i long to be surprised again 😔
an unlikable character that knows just how unlikable she is really sells it. also everyone is stupid on how they go about things just like teenagers would be. i did feel like some of the terminology and lingo used veered into “how do you do fellow kids” territory

i enjoyed the mystery. the mc annoyed me to be honest. i give some leeway to teens because they are immature and that is often annoying but things like iris referring to her two friends as “the agency” in her own head got on my nerves, it just sounded dumb.
i called cooper being the murderer like 30% through but i did not see ms eastwick being involved, although it made sense.
it all came together satisfyingly in the end. the writing was ok, the plot was definitely enjoyable but the characters were a little annoying.

What an incredible story. I sat and read it in one sitting! Just under 9 hours! That is how addictive and engrossing this book is. I was hooked into the plot, and I was making my own case right along with the Blackthorn  agency. I felt so much for Iris, having not known what happened to her sister when she went missing, and then her exgf goes missing  too. She took on so much yo find out the truth, and I was so shocked at the twist of who it was, I suspected, but yeah, I loved that. Also, I loved the lgbtq+ rep aswell, so happy that they got together in the end. Honestly, if you haven't read this, you need to.
