A lovely collection of concise poems about love and life, as told through affirmations. A perfect gift especially for fans of Rupi Kaur.

"stop trying to find peace of mind in people that never brought you peace."
"forgive yourself for going back when you shouldn’t have. forgive yourself for choosing them instead of you. forgive yourself for loving people who could never love you back. forgive yourself for thinking pain was the only thing you were capable of feeling. i forgive you."

I really recommend reading this book, its a short and easy read that has those "omg that’s so relatable" moments we all love and cherish when it comes to poetry.
These poems will make you realize that you should put yourself first, and that it’s totally understandable and not at all narcissistic to do so.
The things I’ve realized through this book are making me speechless. While reading you’re going to uncover all of your layers and it’ll help you understand the deep meaning behind self-love, growth and healing.

This book is very “tumblr-esque”. I would’ve loved it when I was 14 I think. Some of the poems are nice but a lot of them are just sentences and statements that you’ve definitely seen online somewhere. Fair play to Patience Tamara for releasing it and it is lovely if you’re down in the dumps but not my kind of thing unfortunately.

Dear Self, is filled with those “affirmation” -type poems that are so accessible and very relatable. I tabbed it like crazy — clearly, I adored it. It reminded me of how I speak to my friends — filled with encouraging words, validation. And then it reminded me that this is how I should be speaking to myself too 🥹 loved it. Will be going back to it time and time again! So happy to have it in my collection!
