I read this for the assigned reading, expecting it to be horrifying and horrible, but I must confess that I found the storytelling to be enjoyable (or maybe it was the impressions my class did of Romeo and Juliet when we read it or the fact we just roasted the characters every English lesson). Do I still believe that the "love at first sight" thing is a myth and absolutely absurd? Yes, I MEAN HE WAS IN LOVE WAS ROSALINE JUST TWO SECONDS AGO!! do I still believe it was a little dragged out when they killed themselves for each other? absolutely (very unrealistic but "romantic"), But in the end, I managed to comprehend, And enjoy it, will definitely be checking out more of Shakespeare's works from now on.😉

"A pair of star-crossed lovers take their lives."
Heartbreaking, romantic, perfect.

Other than the romance, timing really takes protagonism in the story, for Romeo and Juliet it is always too early or too late, they are condemned from the moment they meet.

i’m really not trying to be different from the crowd when say i really don’t like the story of romeo and juliet.

It’s talked up to be one of the most tragic love stories of all time but it’s kind of just..

I did not care for romeo and juliet’s relationship and did not feel the chemistry. they barely knew each other but we’re willing to kill themsleves for each other?

Also creepy age gap idk i just don’t really like romeo and juliet.

2 stars instead of 1 because of the cultural impact it had. romeo and juliet walked so amazing starcrossed lovers stories could run

I enjoyed the romance in the story, as it does feel like these characters are teenagers as there are many that think infatuation is everything or immediately means love which is definitely what you get in this story. I definitely found their deaths tragic at the end of the story. Although my main criticisms are I did not really enjoy a lot of the characters that much like the nurse and the priest were extremely annoying and unlikable in their own ways. And I thought their parents were dumb. Those are my thoughts.
