A really cool idea with some great artwork and the inclusion of a little kitty cyropod makes this a great read.

Not demonstrably different than the shot film, the changes still make this a worthwhile read.

A good idea ultimately let down by the art.

Turning Dan O'Bannon's original Alien screenplay into a graphic novel is a fun idea. This isn't like the original Star Wars where it is a completely different world. Alien the screenplay and Alien the classic film are very, very similar. The major differences are in where the alien was found and what the alien looked like. Otherwise all the classic story beats are the same, though a few of the film's siblings are missing.

Anyway, should be a fun time. But the artwork is just... Lacking. Though the artist has real skill with the human figure, most of the backgrounds seem to be heavily reworked photos. However they were done, they are quite detailed. But they never really mesh with the characters, making them appear like paper dolls laid on top of a pre-rendered background.

And while the artists skills at drawing people are excellent, the visual storytelling is pretty flat.

It's a fun read. You can zip through the whole thing in the time it would take you to watch the movie. Not a bad way to spend two hours. But there was the opportunity to do more.

Interesting graphic novel take on the original screenplay for Alien. It differs from the popular movie in its characters and some plot details. Otherwise, the creative team has gone to great length to distance this version from the original designs that Ridley Scott used in the theatrical version.

The movie was obviously better but was interested in this as I read the book on the Making of Alien where many of these ideas were scrapped by Fox.

It was hard to separate the two from one another (original screenplay from movie) but I did enjoy seeing some of the subtle changes. Would’ve liked to see more shots of the Alien compared to the the movie. Maybe a big full page drawing.

Much of the action was also confusing/unclear. Did not hold much weight and didn’t really care for the characters. I wish the thoughts of the characters were provided as this format would be very conducive for that.
