*sighs* So a good series ends with disappointment.

First, the good.

The relationships were all so well done! These books have always had strong friendships, which have only gotten better and I actually liked how all of the romances turned out!

And now the not so good...

The big mystery was really obvious.

[Potential minor spoilers - but not really] (this paragraph only)
SpoilerTwelth is all about figuring out 'who is the evil vampire?' Since we're told it has to be someone close to Vlad that really limits the suspect pool.

I actually have a shelf on Goodreads for unsatisfying endings. This didn't wind up there, but I considered it. Asside from the choppy writing, it felt depressing, and the plot wrapped up in a bow too nicely.

Plot holes! So annoying! There were a couple. (Though one was so small I'm probably the only one who noticed.) But she did go back and explain one I'd noticed in a previous book.

Do I recommend this book? Yes, but lower your expectations. Mine were too high after gobbling up the entire series last week.

Omg it's was so good, you'll never expect what happens next or at the end! I recommend it to everyone!!! They'll love the series! I most certainly did!ยก!

I had fun reading these, since it was cheesy and reminded me of when I was a teen. I read the first one in middle school, then had a random urge to finish the series.

As an adult though, the series was overwritten. The first book was the best length, the others tended to drag and some chapters were solely dedicated to describing Vlad's minor problem and a little bit of dialogue and then on our way to the main story.

Vlad annoyed me because he let characters that should have been killed to live, and his reasons were very generic. I definitely wasn't happy that the author killed off Nelly, I thought that was unnecessary to get a reaction and surprised they didn't go with Otis or someone similar. I felt bad for Meredith too, I'm glad the author didn't get rid of her though once she no longer was Vlad's love interest. I did wish they stayed together though out of my own tastes, because I've always liked "opposite" couples (But I did get that with Henry and October).

All in all, I think young teens would enjoy the series, but it's very generic, nothing really new to the vampire genre, and it didn't have to be so long.

Story Time: Holy Toledo (yes I said that) This book eff'd my mind so bad but I loved that. It's still stuck in my mind even though I read the book back in... Sophomore Year? But I came across the series back in the 7th grade and I read it with the class delinquent (cause at my middle school we had a white kid who was trouble but he loved some good books, I wonder if he ever got a library card...)
Verdict: Yooooooou knoooow! If you don't then read my blog entries within the first year of its inception. (If you didn't get the Friday reference, then yeah I loved it!)
Why Rika?: Well like I said, I loved Vlad since I was 12 and young. Vlad is so relatetable (even if he's a boy, he's cute). I saw some bad reviews about the series but I think people look at the outrageous parts but miss the subtle lessons that Vlad learns in the five years that has caused him so much pain. Everyone basically comes together and, as expected, sh*t happens and a slightly happy ending is followed though a cliffhanger? Not cool Aunty Heather (*finger wag*). I just hope we find out in Slayers Chronicles or a novella about Snow comes out (I've actually been curious about her since her introduction into the series in [b:Tenth Grade Bleeds|7811923|Tenth Grade Bleeds|Heather Brewer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348877644s/7811923.jpg|4984643])
SpoilerLike everyone else, I was pissed the f**k off when Thomas took Nelly's life (son of a bitch!!!) And Snow becoming a vampire (I actually thought she died, she scared me just as much as Vlad was about it). It was nice that she got with Vlad be cause Meredith became annoying to me after I read [b:Eleventh Grade Burns|7807269|Eleventh Grade Burns|Heather Brewer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348891564s/7807269.jpg|6876567]. And just when Eddie Poe couldn't get anymore annoying (little sh*t!), Em turns him into a vampire. Way to go Em (*slow clap*) You released a real monstrosity on the human and vampire race

Hrm. Not the best ending this series could have gotten.

Actually, the ending kind of stank entirely. :( Vlad totally overreacted when Snow "died." Some of the death scenes at the end of the novel were incredibly rushed and smacked the reader across the face, leaving us with a breathless, "Wait, what just happened?" sort of feeling.

There was really no time to mourn any of those who passed. And Nelly's funeral only got one and a half pages, which was pathetically short for someone so very central to the storyline since book one.

Not only that, but I can't say I was shocked to find out the truth about Vlad's father. His reemergence into the series for just the last book, all willy-nilly, was simply far too fishy to just roll with.

The last few lines in the book still have me wanting more. Somehow, I get the inkling that Vlad's going to get a sequel, perhaps taking place in Stokerton University?

Only time will tell....

This was a pretty solid ending to the series. I've got to day though, name-dropping a Seether song from a 2004 album in a book that came out in 2010 made for a great laugh. That song would have had to have been 5 years old at least in story, being played at a high-school Halloween party lol

Also, the Nelly thing was a real downer. Made me feel just a touch sad, which is saying something for a series that I no longer care much about.
