The first half of Children of Fallen Gods was a bit of a slog — slow pacing, emotionally repetitive, and a grumpy MMC who’s still not winning me over. But the last third really pulled me back in. The tension ramped up, the stakes felt real, and Aefa’s arc in particular hit hard — tragic, layered, and far more compelling than the main romance at times. I’m still not sold on Max, but I’m invested enough in the world and side characters to see this series through. A solid bridge book with a strong finish, even if it took a while to get there.
