No second book syndrome here! First half with the war and third pov confused me a bit, but I caught on pretty quickly about the new character, and then the pieces fell into place during the second half. A gripping and emotional ending that sets up book 3 nicely. One of the best fmc/mmc duos in the genre.

This book had me in its grip from start to finish. I experienced joy, agony, triumph, and pure heartbreak. What an absolute journey and joy this was to read. Carissa shows time and time again just how great she is at world and character building. I am losing it at this ending and am eagerly starting the final book in the series, fully prepared to be torn apart.
