I was a tad confused at certain points BUT the betrayals, plot twists and multiple POVs were everything I wanted them to be and eventually everything tied together. Equal parts excited and devastated to wrap up this trilogy with book 3

Oh. My. God. I am DISTRAUGHT. I am feeling so many feelings. Carissa’s writing is blowing me away and I just can’t even put my thoughts into words yet but here’s a quick recap:
This bitch Nura had the AUDACITY to put Max into Ilyzath?? And become queen? I cannot. I cannot. I am IN DISTRESS FOR MAX who I love with all my heart.
How did I not put together that Aefe was Reshaye?!?! I was absolutely devastated for her when Ishqa betrayed her — I did NOT see that coming. That was rough. BUT CADUAN IS ALIVE!!!!! I love that we get both perspectives and aren’t just hearing about the “Fey king who wants to destroy humanity” from one side and automatically disliking him — we actually understand why.
The way Carissa writes these scenes with characters like Reshaye in Tisaanah/Max’s minds is WILD. She does it so well and really, really draws you into the scene, their minds, without it being confusing. Her writing and imagery and character development are absolutely stunning and I love everything about this series. And I love the multiple POV’s!
Could not put this one down once I got about halfway through!!!

Somehow even better than its predecessor, this book built out the history and contemporary politics of its world deftly and fully without ever feeling like I was reading a political treatise. The twists and turns were satisfying and engaging, and even when I correctly guessed what might happen I was never totally sure which kept me engaged. While the sharp(er) turns in plot aren’t quite as dramatic as in book 1, they still absolutely threw me for a loop when they did arrive. You might have a slightly better chance of guessing where this story is going compared to book 1, but believe me you cannot get it all. I am very excited to pick up the final volume to see where the story ends up!
