Disappointing this book is the first lumberjane book that I didn’t like.
I was gifted an ebook via Netgalley.
This was my introduction to the Lumberjanes universe. Immediately following finishing this book, I read the first volume of the Lumberjanes comic by Noelle Stevenson. 3 stars may seem like I was meh about it, but honestly, I felt as though there was too much going on for it to be the best in a written novel format. Once I read the first volume of the comic, I knew that the book definitely would have been better in that comic form. The characters themselves are very colorful and words don't do them justice. I loved so much about this and hope to continue on with the comics and learn more about the characters. It sounds like there is a lot of diversity that isn't really stated black and white style. The Lumberjanes remind me of a mixture of Adventure Time and The Mighty B, which means my kids would definitely enjoy the comics too!

Sweet Cyndi Lauper, this was a terrific book! If you love the LJ comic series, you’ll love this novel. Not only does each character shine, but the relationships delve a bit deeper, the journey is a bit steeper, and the the friendship is even a bit merrier. I love everything about this story...Tamaki did a fantastic job!

I just got into the comics, so when I saw an audiobook of one of the books was on Scribd, I thought I would check it out. I just really love the Lumberjanes world. I love the characters, I love how it's so unapologetically feminist to the way how girls can be awesome and diverse and how they just name drop historical women, and I love the friendship of the 5 main girls.
I'd love to read more of the comics and read more of the books, because the stories are just so delightful.

I'm not sure of the intended age group of this, it reads very early middle grade but with some touches of topics you don't normally find in middle grade. Whatever the case it does feel younger than the comics but still very enjoyable. I liked being able to spend more time with these characters.

I'm doing this new thing, where if I didn't finish the book, I'm just not doing stars. (It's not that I'm giving zero...) But I need to put this on the list so I remember that I wasn't into this. I just love the graphic novels and wondered how this would translate. For me, personally, it just didn't. I got to page 60 before I realized it was feeling like a struggle and I was forcing myself to finish and I have too many other books to attend to. What it also really did for me was show how well the graphic novels work- how they manage to do character development subtly and with imagery; how they really allow everyone to shine at once. How much the art really does to make the story! I am sure there are people who love Lumberjanes so much they will take everything they can get, and that's awesome- I'm glad this is there for them! I think they will really enjoy this. But it just wasn't what I was looking for.
LUMBERJANE NOVELS TO THE MAX
Perfectly captures everything we love about the Lumberjanes adventures but in a book! The story is great and an almost perfect transition from comic to book. Part of me did miss seeing the characters but there are plenty of illustrations throughout to make the transition a little easier.
