This was a letdown. I was looking forward to this book so much as well! The plot just fell flat, and I was more interested in the diaries then the main characters romance, that was barely in the book. I wanted more of her great-great grandmothers' story, so much so that I wish the book was in two POVs. The only joy I found in reading this book was that it was the first time I decided to annotate a book with a friend.

Bit slow and chunky at times. There were small moments when I was pulled into the story, but a lot of it was quite slow and not so engaging. Characters were not as fleshed out as I would have liked, but I think that’s because the focus of the story was on Anastasia and not so much Jess, who I was hoping to read more about.

Clunky in parts, but an enjoyable read. I really wanted it to turn out differently (though of course that would be predictable and not really fun) but I thought the story was clever.

I liked it! Now how satisfied am I with the ending? I’m not entirely sure. It does make sense that her great great aunt wasn’t Anastasia but I am kinda sad that her husband thought she was his whole life. I do like that it aligns with Jess and how she felt like she was pretending to be someone besides herself. I also enjoyed the 2007 setting
