My mom passed away from AML which is the disease that Delia ends up getting in this book. I felt very attached to hear what Delia experienced. My mom didn’t share her inner dialogue or thoughts with me so it was interesting to hear it from someone else.

Her support group and the way that she lived life just made me appreciate the small things. I loved her thoughts on living in Greenwich village, having deep conversations with friends, experiencing a solar eclipse and traveling. It was beautiful and I felt myself very attached to her story as a whole.

I’m thankful that Delia was brave enough to share her story as it made me feel closer to my mom and her journey. Thank you Delia for sharing your AML journey.

With a bright, striking cover, I was drawn to this memoir in the store and noticed the name “Ephron.” Sure enough, her sister was Nora – the woman that wrote so many screenplays and books I loved. Certainly, I wanted to relive some of those fun moments from a sister who may have similar ways of making me smile.

The book starts with her husband dying. Naturally she went through a serious grieving period. She remarried a man that seemed pretty perfect. Then her dog dies. And then she has a form of leukemia – one that shakes up your entire body. It could be a great book for someone that also has cancer as she describes her experience which was interesting and informative. But, she was relaying her thoughts from a dark space when there’s so much news in this world that is already quite depressing.

The end has some positive remarks. She was very fortunate to get the best care and to be surrounded by those she loved.

This is a memoir that immerses you in the beauty of being alive. I don’t even know who recommended this book or why i requested it from the library, but i’m so grateful. It is full of hope and so much love!!
