I love how Olivie Blake woves words together. It’s so intricate yet arresting. It’s my second book of hers. The first being Alone With You In The Ether. I feel like I get her writing style a bit more with this. Her books do not have a conventional plot. Of a problem and a resolution. The story is driven by the characters. You should not read her books waiting for things to happen. Nothing big is coming but you read more to find out more about the characters

It is not
“What is going to happen?”
But
“What is the character going to do?”

The banter and interactions between the characters are enough to keep me interested. The recruitment instantly drew me in. Without a doubt, there are no boring characters in her book. If you feel that , that character is boring… just wait.

“More interesting than the game is always the players, you know.” - Callum

I loved the characters and it started out really promising but I feel like there was a lot of build up only for nothing to happen it did but it was a cliff hanger and still many unanswered questions but I don't think I will be continuing the series.

I listened to this one on audiobook, which definitely made it more interesting as it had different narrators for the six main characters. Parts of it did drag a bit and I don’t know if I would have finished it without the audio version. But the second half of the book picked up and definitely am curious how the sequel will follow.

A much slower read than I expected, but it did have a couple good twists.
