I liked this book overall. I felt like Julian and Yadriel's relationship was really sweet, of a bit rushed. I wish the Maritza was more involved in the later third of the book. It kind of felt like she fell off without any explanation.
I feel a little conflicted on Catriz being the villain. This is because he was the only one (except for this mom) who wholeheartedly supported Yadriel's transition. Although, I did think was an interesting allegory of how even cis men are denied manhood based on normative gender roles.
Overall, I liked it. I thought the relationship was cute and the mystery was just mysterious enough to keep me going. I think my biggest complaint is that I wish the side characters were more well developed (especially
Julian's friends)

There are so many beautiful, amazing parts to Cemetery Boys! The imagery and details of the Latinx culture and brujx folklore were incredible, and the characters are so heartfelt.

I would have loved to get more of the thrilling mystery in the middle of the story instead of just at the beginning and the end, so the pacing did feel a little off. That being said, the last few chapters of this book are some of the best chapters I’ve read in a long time for so many reasons (but I will refrain from spoilers, so you just need to read it to find out why!!).

I highly recommend, especially if you love:
👻 ghosts (excuse me, spirits) and magic
🌼 vibrant cultures and traditions
💛stories of identity and belonging

I'd had this book for a while and just never read it and I'm so glad I finally did! It was so good, I loved the relationships and friendships and how deep they all were. You could tell that these characters were truly found family to each other.

The story itself was fun and the mystery had me intrigued the whole time. I'm very happy with how the book ended, even though I suspected it would end this way. I do wish the reveal at the end was a bit longer but otherwise, this book was great.

Has great representation and believable characters. The setting was so cool, and I liked the magical elements of this.

It was a very lovely book, I’ve enjoyed every second reading it. The writing was easy to understand yet descriptive and all the culture and traditions were lovely to read about! The characters were very likeable and distinctive, even the side characters were quite memorable. I really do recommend reading it.

Wow, that was such an amazing read! The premise was so intriguing and I loved the world that was created as well as all the real cultural aspects that made it feel very well-rounded.
I loved the characters so much, they all felt different and interesting in their own ways. Yadriel is such a good trans rep, i loved the fact that his identity was of major importance to the story while not being all it relied on.
Julian’s subtle ADHD traits mixed up with the really obvious ones was such a nice touch as well, made it feel really real.
They felt really good together as well and I loved seeing their relationship evolve.
I would say the 4,5 instead of a 5 is because of the ending, that felt very rushed and sudden, and also not as well written as the other parts of the book especially in the fight scene.
That was the only minor hiccup I had with this book!
