It was amazing, 10/10 recommend. I have never read a book where characters codeswitched like this, where there were MANY time Spanish was spoken. It made me nostalgic and it was bittersweet bc I love Spanish and my culture, and I also miss it so much. I feel like it slips from me all the time if I don't cling as hard as I do, I'm glad to read this book and be reminded of who I am as a Latine. Julian explaining why he didn't speak Spanish was a really beautiful thing to read. I don't relate personally bc I love to speak Spanish so much but I do relate to the intimacy and preciousness of Spanish and how close he holds it and his family to his heart.

I really don't have anything to say and add, this book was amazing. I wouldn't be against a reread at all. I think the end recognition said it best: “The novel … perfectly balances the vibrant, energetic Latinx culture while delving into heavy topics like LGBTQ+ acceptance, deportation, colonization, and racism within authoritative establishments.” —TeenVogue.com

I loved it for those reasons too. Amazing. Thank you Adrian for this book, it was well written and also meant a lot to me. I would love to be their friend, they seem like a great person when I was reading the acknowledgements.

What to expect: trans & gay MMC, supernatural, coming of age, def could make you cry

I really enjoyed this one! The audio was fantastic and the story really sucks you in. I loved the paranormal aspect and I learned a lout about Latinx culture. I absolutely loved the rep in the book and Yadriel's journey to become himself and show others who he is too.

Spice: light kissing, YA book
