A beautiful novel that I found to be predictable but still so very engaging! I love that it’s based in New England.

This book was well-written; I enjoyed the prose very much. This wasn't a perfect story, but I can't quite put my finger on why. I guess I wasn't sure why the Joseph character was chosen as the male perspective for the story other than he was the last person to see Ruthie and he had some serious issues that were interesting to delve into. I hated Norma's family and wish I knew more about Ruthie and Joe's family.

I liked this book but didn't love it.
