I teared up when Ruthie told her mom about losing Sarah 😭 very emotional. Makes me want to research more about Amanda Peters and know what parts of her world intersect with her fiction 🧡

Joe’s story was deeply emotional, touching as he reflects on the loss of his siblings, and his fear of failure as he looks to a life of being a father. He escapes life by running from it.

Nora. Her story growing up in a joyless home, surrounded by love, but without outward joy. The life she was forced to live, unaware of the family left without answers.

This story of indigenous people, the hardships some of them faced. The unfairness of justice for marginalized people. The never healing wounds that loss can leave behind. And the human every day experience to just continue make it through.

This book was beautifully written and I loved the adoration Joe has for his family, but the harsh truth of fear and cowardice clouding what a good life could be.
