Each time I read one of John's books, it takes me a few years to finish. But it's always worth it.
Highly recommend to anyone who is a human.

This book is probably one of my favorites. It speaks right to my soul. John O'Donohue's poetic prose describes the stages of life and how to meet them with emotional grace and serenity. I adore his language, the way he presents the world, and his honesty. I've sent a couple quotes from this book to friends struggling and re-read those quotes anytime I struggle and need reminded of the beauty of our earth.
Favorite quote:
“Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.”

Great bit of philosophical reading. I'm putting it on my "re-read" shelf because there is just so much to digest here. You really need to take it a couple sentences at a time and chew on what he's saying. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's a nice departure from some of the more Zen, or Stoic, philosophies that I've been immersed in.

I bought this book awhile ago but I mainly picked it up to read when I was feeling down. An it did help me feel better & I learned something from it.
Although in my opinion it did seem to repeat a few things a lot which I was okay to overlook; I'm not a religious person..nor do I believe in God...but this was overall still an interesting read.
(I will add the dates I read this book later on today.)
