While it’s jarring shifting to the new continent at first this is yet again another excellent Malazan read and Steven Erickson always nails the ending perfectly
Nearly completely disconnected from the series so far. It seems to vary widely between a comedy and serious tale. The disconnect between the tone felt jarring and I felt myself wanting to skip the events from certain characters.
I will write a full review tomorrow. But I'll say that this is most likely my new favorite Malazan book, one of the best villain origin stories full-stop, and one of the easiest 5 star ratings I've ever given.
