Although I am still having trouble making sense of why a billionaire would fall for a stranger like he does, the mystery of this story is enough to have me immediately going to read the sequel. I am also disbelieving of how a woman who has been on the run before would not pay attention to the red flags going up EVERYWHERE around her. Let's see how book 2 goes.

I received an e-copy of this book from the publishers at NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I have heard wonderful things about Lisa Renee Jones's books. I even have a few of her books I won from a giveaway that my mom dove into head first and has been unable to put down. This is my first book I have actually written by the esteemed author, so I was pretty excited about it. What sort of writing flare did Lisa Renee have that resonated with so many readers?
The story opens a bit confusingly as Amy is presented with directions to run. Run from what? We are not told yet. We only know that her instructions are to go to the airport and get on a pain and forget all about her previous new beginning. Heartbroken but ever cooperative, Amy does exactly as stated. It is a midst her emotional turmoil that she meets the devastatingly handsome Liam Stone. From the moment Amy locks eyes with him she comes undone. She has trouble functioning rationally and her desperation to no longer be alone sends her straight into his open arms.
Liam has his own secrets. He keeps to himself after loosing his mentor and his mother to cancer. He desperately tries to break down the walls that Amy has erected around herself but she seems steadfast in keeping him at arms length. What had started out as a tryst to sooth his longing for her, turns into a whirlwind romance. Liam, the notorious bachelor, now can't get enough of Amy. He wants to protect her from whatever she is running from and he wants to take care of her as it seems no one has ever done before.
Can Amy and Liam's secrets be their undoing or do they seem to have more in common then is realized?
Honestly, when I started this story, before Amy met Liam, I was a little weary. It sounded like a murder mystery type book and I have dragged myself away from that genre and don't have any desire to return to it. What can I say? Romance of every type has thoroughly incapacitated my reading tastes. But then she met Liam and they started their hot and seductive dance and I couldn't contain the smile that creeped into my features. Liam seemed a bit Christian Grey-like. He was a troubled but privileged man searching for a woman who would let him be in control completely. From the first moment he met Amy he told her he wanted nothing but a one night stand and yet he became intoxicated by her and couldn't get enough. Sometimes this can read a little unrealistic. Sure, people set out for a tryst and end up with a relationship but what are the odds of a billionaire celebrity going from having any woman he wants to being a monogamist? I don't see that often, but some how, by some miracle, Lisa Renee made it work. It was believable. The characters, most importantly, were VERY likable and I could find myself sympathizing with Amy.
Overall, this was a grand book. Warning though, it DOES end in a cliffhanger. I hate not knowing this and then getting completely consumed by a world I can't continue on in. Good news is though the sequel, Infinite Possibilities, is set to be released November 11th, 2013. Can't wait!
Escaping Reality was a low-key version of 50 Shades of Grey that brings its readers into Amy's world of secrets, lies, and an unforgettable love.

I liked this story about a girl named Lara who is going under an assumed identity of Amy Benson. The story doesn't give much detail about what happened so that she needed an assumed identity, but into a relationship she has with a reclusive billionaire. I'm not much for the cliffhanger ending but it seems to become the norm lately. So hopefully it won't be too long for the second book.

Amy Bensen has a traumatic past she doesn’t know a lot about, but she knows she is not safe and can only trust a mysterious man connected to her brother to keep her safe. When he tells her to run, she drops everything in her life to start over. This time she runs right into the arms of Liam Stone, a reclusive billionaire architect with an air of mystery. When Liam is based in Amy’s new city while he works on a new project she starts a romance with the controlling alpha. Can she trust him and her instincts or is he some how linked to the evil she’s been running from.
I read this book after watching the Passionflix series. I will say the series and book are pretty much exactly the same, so the only reason to read the book is to get ahead of the cliffhanger. Overall this book has controlling alpha vibes with a suspenseful plot, like a lot of romance books that came out after 50 shades of grey. Although to be fair, I think I’ve read Lisa’s books in the past and they all tend to have a similar romance suspense plot. Would I read this again, probably not I hate cliffhangers, but if you do read it definitely do it before watching the series.

Ok so this might seem like another book on the FSOG bandwagon, but it's not. Or at least it's so good, you don't care. I have my issues with this book, mainly with Liam, but that's neither here nor there because the mystery in this book is so damn good. I felt paranoid the entire book and suspicious of everyone. Even the dude at Verizon they meet for maybe a second. The author does an excellent job of conveying Amy's anxiety and suspicions of everyone while keeping us on our toes as well since we know hardly anything about Amy.
I would think it's really hard to write a novel in first person and keep the true identity of who she is a mystery. That is some plotting, chica and I salute you! I am a mystery person. Criminal Minds is my shit so immediately I was hooked. It reads very fast and I think it's because you devour it in order to find out what happens. That being said the only thing that felt rushed was the relationship with Liam. Of course, Amy is out of her element with him and I can understand how she fell so fast for two reasons. One, she has no control in her life and doesn't even know how to begin to take control. Then comes this man who takes control without stripping her of her independence and makes her feel safe. How could she not trip over herself? Even though she feels like she's putting him in danger. Even though she knows she might have to leave at any moment. This brings me to my next point. She is one lonely girl. I can't imagine being afraid to make any attachments because you might have to leave at the drop of a hat or your afraid of putting them in danger. She's starving for a connection. Makes me sad. Hang in there, Amy!
Liam. Ooooh, Liam. I was kind of a fan. I was digging you and your tattoo's even though you could be a teensy weensy controlling you were dead sexy and I was into you. But I was suspicious from the get go and someone began overshadowing you a little bit. Not sure if we are doing teams yet, but I think I might be leaning towards sexy neighbor man, Jared Ryan.
Now. I will warn you. There is a cliffhanger. And it's one holy heck of a cliffhanger too. This is a series and I believe book 2, Infinite Possibilities, is expected October of this year soooo YAY! Not tooo long of a wait. Keep this in mind though, peeps! I warned ya! So what's my recommendation? Should you read it? Sure! Give it a go! I'm certainly a fan! *ARC received in exchange for an honest review*

I was browsing Netgalley and was pleasantly surprised to find Escaping Reality as a Read Now book. However, that excitement was short lived. Escaping Reality was a big letdown.
There’s all this mystery about Amy. Who is she really? What happened to her family? Who is after her? Big surprise! You get NO answers in this book. Nothing. I kept reading, hoping that something would be explained. Honestly, it felt like a cheap ploy to get me to continue reading. Not cool at all.
Other than that, you’re left with something very typical and overused. If you feel like you’ve read this before, you might be right. Liam Stone is the typical damaged billionaire with a desire to control a naive girl. Amy Bensen just happens to be that naive girl that needs saving (mostly from herself, but who am I to judge). The mystery behind Amy might have been enough to save this story from being just another one of the same, but there aren’t enough answers to save the story.
There was something else that bothered me about this story, other than it being rather unoriginal. Amy is supposed to be on the run from someone that’s dangerous, but along comes Liam and she’s throwing all common sense out the window. Screw being safe! Instalove trumps living any day. Sorry, I just find it completely unrealistic.
So, while I wouldn’t recommend Escaping Reality, I may (or may not) pick up the second book to find out Amy’s whole story.

I could have given this 5 stars if there had been any answers to the many questions that make up this book. I was just beginning to get bored waiting for something? The end of the book leaves you knowing pretty much what you did at the beginning of the book. I hate feeling like an author is dragging things out to stretch into a trilogy. Anyway, I am intrigued enough to buy the next book right away....hoping to get a few answers.
