Colgan's books are often at their heart about resilience, particularly at times when major life shifts are happening. This addition to the Mure books is yet another in the same vein, but with more airplanes and birds, which has a lovely symmetry.
Read this one out of sequence, so knew Morag would make it through okay, which was good because there kept being sad bits. Colgan always does a solid job of building out characters, particularly layering how past traumas inform their now without getting overly "woe oh woe" about it. Both Morag and Gregor have real growth to make, and it's lovely to see them finding the other in that process.
Natalia sounds like the best kind of ride or die.Morag's boyfriend for most of the novel is the worst kind of insecure, but so realistic in that insecurity. The pocket dial was excellent way to start that break up going so Gregor's true excellence became more apparent. The descriptions of place and food make me want to head to the Scottish Isles stat, then revel in all their harsh beauty plus delicious dairy products and baked goods.

I always love diving into a Jenny Colgan novel and The Summer Skies did not disappoint. I loved the feeling of coming home after being away and realizing home is actually where you want to be. I also loved how an unlikely romance brewed between Morag and Gregor. As always, this novel was full of idyllic Scottish landscapes that made me itching to grab my passport and hop on the next plane. I sincerely hope that she makes this a new series, because as always, I'll read every book.

Always enjoy traveling to Scotland via Jenny Colgan’s stories. This one was fun- lady pilot isn’t a normal leading lady so appreciated that part of the story.
