This is one case where I actually prefer the Disney version to the original. Beauty was quite dull, the Beast was also quite dull, and it took me ages to finish this book when it should have taken me only a few days.

Disfruté los primeros capítulos, pero a mitad del libro empieza a volverse aburrido. Cuando el hada cuanta toda la historia de La Bestia y el origen real de Bella se vuelve demasiado para una historia maravillosa. Lo siento un poco forzado y podría terminar mucho antes.
Mon impression générale est un peu faussée par le dernier tiers du livre. C'est le moment où la Belle et la Bête se rapprochent. La Belle rencontre la famille de la Bête et on a droit à d'interminables explications sur le pourquoi de sa transformation, sur la généalogie des personnages, et les prophéties qui pèsent sur leur tête. Au final, j'ai aimé l'originalité de l'histoire mais je suis surtout fan du style de l'auteur. Sans cette qualité d'écriture, je pense que j'aurais vite était agacé par le caractère too much des personnages (la perfection de Belle, l'uniformité de caractère des six sœurs d'un côté, des six frères de l'autre).

3 stars. I love Beauty and the Beast and almost all adaptations of the story (except for the Disney live action…no ma’am) so I’m glad that I’ve finally picked this up. It is definitely a very romantic story and it is well written. The illustrations are beautiful but it isn’t the most interesting read. It’s really wordy and just a bit dull and I felt like I was making no progress the more I read but I do just really love this story so much and for that I can’t give it less than 3 stars.
