I haven't written any reviews on past volumes, not because I didn't have much to share, but because I had too much to say. Now, things are slightly different, given the fact we're coming to the arc I'm most excited about: the Aogiri arc.
I love seeing Kaneki fight for what he believes is right. What they've shown of his character (he even says it, in volume 2-3) is that, human or ghoul, if it's someone he cares about; he will fight for them, and won't hesitate to use his abilities. Still, he hesitates to kill. He grasps desperately onto that shred of "humanity" and yet he still did the body thing, just so he wouldn't be leaning on Banjou so much he would be a burden.
I definitely expected him to agree to Yamori's proposal; it's just in Kaneki's nature. I was, however, surprised by Ayato's strength, and personality. He seems like Touka, if she was stronger, and much, much more truly loathing. I love him, though; to me, he just seems like a truly honest character, which I rarely see in this manga. Half the characters are full of deceit, the other half are cunning, or keep important information to themselves.
I know what will happen in the next volume, though I don't know even the half of it. I'm excited. I used to be unable to understand the fights, but now I can. I guess concentration is all it takes.
Even if this volume was a bit of a filler, I consider it was worth it; I know all of the plot points will be used later on, and I still enjoyed it. A lot. The anime is so different; it keeps so much out, it makes the anime seem bad next to the manga. (Truly, the first season of the anime is excellent. Just in comparison to the manga.)
Once again, Sui Ishida managed to hook me into the volume, and make me crave to read more. Right now, I'll do just that; besides, I plan to add the whole series (I read :re already, but I plan to re-read it) to my reading challenge.

1. Touka has a brother? WHAAAAA-
2. That fight scene between Banjo and Kaneki was so cool, Kaneki is getting better at defending himself.
3. Aogiri is one creepy ass cult.
4. Growing to love Banjo. How he protected the kid, so kind.
5. Kaneki sacrificed his freedom for the sake of others but it was for nothing.
6. Nishio, great character development.
7. Juuzo is one crazy kid. I laughed at the bit where others had to ask him not to bite the head investigator

JUZOU!!!!!!!!! is really cool, i like him ^^
This series never fails to bring in a good plot line and kidnapping made it even better.
I love the character development and how backstory slowly pieces together. I have been pestering my friend constantly to bring me more of these amazing books <3 I cant wait to watch the anime!

While the past volumes were good, this is where a lot of the early groundwork of the series starts to pay off. Kaneki begins to get forced deeper into the world of ghouls, and a big show down is building up between ghouls and the ghoul investigators. We also finally re given a better description of the Kagune.
Honestly this is the volume that fully sold the series to me and convinced me I will completely finish it.
