Really interesting follow up to Neuromancer. The same style of prose that has me constantly struggling to understand the scene and futuristic language is present in Count Zero. It's a strange brew of detective story, adventure, coming of age, and social commentary. It is at once timeless and far removed from this time in history (even more so, I imagine, from the time in which it was published.) This took me much longer to read than other novels because, I think, of the density and efficiency of Gibson's language. It reminds me a bit of Chandler or Robert B Parker, clever imagery mixed with razor sharp wit. Gibson brings a tinge of hopelessness to his writing that only intensifies the mood of The Sprawl. I'm looking forward to the final part of his Sprawl Trilogy: Mona Lisa Overdrive.

I enjoyed this a whole lot more than Neuromancer. To begin with, I found it immediately more comprehensible, but beyond that I thought the way the multiple perspective characters were handled worked really well, they were all pretty distinct both personality and what-their-deal-is-wise (and mostly equally entertaining to read about), and the chapters' lengths were just right in keeping me interested in all 3. Solid pacing, some outstanding prose and a bunch of weird cyber sickos to think about. Good stuff!

I liked Marly’s storyline the best, but it was pretty good. I finished it, which is more than I can say for Neuromancer.
