Gibson—pulpy, cool, cyber-Rastafarians (voodoo this time), and sizzling prose. Gibson reminds me that he really was a visionary, really saw this stuff before it arrived in all its hallucinatory vibrance.

When he takes a minute from the action to describe the silhouette of an office building or the way a hyper-lite glides on the wind, the rest of the world drops away for 3 sentences, and we are transported to a place of hyper-lucid beauty. He is able to capture the form, function, context, and the poets' beauty of a scene...then rub out his cigarette, turn up his collar against the wind, and keep on walking (lighting another cigarette, of course).

Not Neuromancer, but nothing is going to be. A fascinating trip into an amazing imagined reality, one that moves with a slick rhythm and style all its own.

The story of a boy named Bobby, a girl named Angie, and the Voodoo gods that unite them. Not to mention plenty of cyberspace action!

I absolutely love Gibson’s writing style. I actually found this novel a bit easier to follow than Neuromancer — definitely still some bits that were hard to parse, but that’s honestly part of the reason I enjoy Gibson’s writing!! A fascinating universe, really interesting concepts (hard to believe it was written in the 80s, hard to imagine what it would have been like to read these novels in that era), cool characters. Good good stuff!!

Everything I loved about the first book is still here. Lots of fun changes in the world from when the first book was set.
