  • I found this book deeply inspiring in it's celebration of difference and marginalisation in all forms, as well as the ways in which individuals throughout the 20th and 21st celebration have struggled, grappled with and finally empowered themselves through being outcasted by society.
  • Olivia Lang is excellent in the ways in which she extracts the seemingly mundane, ordinary and obscure aspects of people's lives; their everday struggles, and delves into the quiet rebellion and subversion these small triumphs represent.
  • Wonderful and heart renching accounts of AIDs and it's lasting legacy in our society.
  • Heart renching exploration of the refugee and migrant crisis.
  • Some parts were more interesting than others however, and I did find that there was a domination of white, middle class and able bodied individuals.
