In Afghanistan, a girl with a helper leg builds a bench so she can sit comfortably in class. Good summation of ramifications of war.

A cute story.  A little abrupt at the end, but cute none the less.

I love books showing creative and ingenious ways people have found to promote education especially for girls. After a landmine (one of the many still leftover from previous wars) accident forces Aria to wear a prosthetic leg, she finds it's too painful to sit on the ground while trying to learn so she decides to build a bench herself. Eye opening. An example of how it's so important to write stories only one can tell.
