Definitely not a casual/lighthearted read; weird in a good way, often uncomfortable, but in exactly the way that makes Atwood's books so gripping. It's interesting to read a feminist novel from the '60s, realizing how much and, at the same time, how little feminist thinking has changed.

i can’t say i enjoyed reading this very much, and i love symbolism in books, but not so much in the edible woman. i don’t think this is the kind of book you’re supposed to enjoy anyway, it’s grim and dark all too real.

I had some trouble focusing for the first half (or so) of the book. It was a little slow-paced. But once I reached the point where the story was really going, I couldn’t put it down.

A very thought provoking book. The decision between safety and adventure really resonated with me. Amazing that this book is still relevant more than 50 years after its release. I love the way Margaret Atwood writes, and was very satisfied with where the story took me.

je saurais même dire pourquoi mais j’ai énormément apprécié ce livre. j’ai eu beaucoup de mal à entrer dans l’histoire mais au fur et à mesure j’ai réussi à m’attacher au personnages. c’était à la fois, hyper intéressant, et enrichissant, triggering par moment (tca).
cependant j’ai beaucoup aimé le temps que j’ai consacré à lire ce livre et je pense que c’est pour ça que je lui ai mis 4⭐️. 
ce n’est pas ce livre de margaret atwood que je recommanderais en premier, mais il était sympa et très réfléchi.
