Time traveller walked so Marty McFly could run

Not only the first story with a real time machine, but also an interesting look at the social consequences of (late 19th century) class society and industrial revolution in England. 3½ stars.

absolutely gutted me. the last paragraph made me cry in the middle of my campus starbucks

A good slow burn read.

This book, first published in 1895 really surprised me with its depiction of time travel. The images that the text conjures up are still used in blockbusters in 2024. It's a good book, a good tale, exceptionally detailed and a perfect pace to take things slow for a while.
