Draper does a terrific job of telling the story of Isabella, a girl torn between two families and struggling with her identity. The incident towards the end of the book isn't resolved as the book abruptly ends, which is too bad, because I wanted to know what happened next.

Isabella is learning to navigate the world as a biracial girl with divorced parents. In her personal life, Izzy must deal with switching back and forth between her mother's home and her father's home, as well as the fraught relationship between her parents. In school, Izzy's friend experiences a race-based threat, which forces her to think about how the world views her as half-black/half-white.

A good book that explores topics of identity, familial relationships, and racism/police brutality.

Kinda cringe but it’s a children’s book so nothing against it. Dad wanted me to read it so I did, love a 1.5 hour book. Good topics and the divorce trauma was accurate

I enjoyed the book but I felt like there was so much going on with all of the topics in it.

Also I wasn’t the fan of the incident that happened after Isabelle and Darren went to get ice cream toward the end. I felt like it came out of left field! Just like I said earlier way too many topics going on in this book.
