It’s cute. It’s a good read. It’s just. It’s good. You know.

This book was a really cute story of forever friends realizing they’ve spent their whole lives pining over each other. In a slightly less typical boy is a hopeless romantic and girl is a cynic, Harper and Theo make a pact to teach each other new skills. While Theo helps Harper with vocabulary for her SATs, Harper tries to teach Theo how not to fall in love.
In typical rom com fashion, Harper realizes that in helping Theo how not to fall so easily, she’s learned more about falling in love.
The only reason I docked this book is because there is a lot of sexual tension in a way that felt too old for the 17 year old characters. I think if they had been graduating college instead of high school the story would have worked better.

Harper is still not over her first love at last summer's camp, so this summer she plans to work at her mom's bridal boutique and absolutely not fall in love. Meanwhile, her best friend Theo moves from relationship to relationship, going all in and is devastated when each one ends. So Harper decides to teach him how to not fall in love, while Theo pretty much dares her to do the opposite. What could possibly go wrong? I loved this sweet romance with all the character quirks.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It wasn’t the typical enemies to lovers trope but best friends to true love. Harper is frustrated with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with wedding planning, which is ironic since her mom owns a bridal shop. Theo is her best guy friend, one who loves rom-coms and cries at the drop of a hat. What Harper is unable to see is that Theo is her true love, the guy who is passionate about fencing and Larping, who cannot make it past the first date without falling madly in love with the flavor of the week. Harper tries to teach him how NOT to fall in love, while trying her best to come to terms with becoming over attached with someone she dates. I liked how the parents were super supportive, no one called Harper out for tying up all her time helping her mom with the bridal shop and no one made fun of Theo’s quirkiness and how Felix, who Harper thought was IT, turned out to be an ok guy, not calling out Harper for dumping him. Definitely one for HS collections.
* I got this book for review from the publisher*
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the it was friends to more. I also like this book had a fun job setting, set in a wedding shop. I thought this book was it bit on the messy side. I also wish we would have gotten both characters pov. But i enjoyed this book. I thought it was fun read. I also really liked the lead as well. It was quick read, I also liked this book more then this author previous book!

Sweet and fun. You knew where it was going, but that was part of the fun of it.
This one was soooooooo cute. Best friends to lovers is the best trope ever and I am prepared to die on that hill. I got frustrated with the love interest, Theo a couple times but that's expected, he's a teenaged boy and they're idiots. But he was adorable and got over his stupidity eventually. Obviously the women in this book were all splendid, powerful, passionate, and amazing individuals. That goes without saying but I'll say it anyway. I enjoyed Harper's thought process. I appreciate how realistic her mindset is. I loved how kind she was. Her love language is definitely acts of service. She is always helping her mom, sewing things for Theo, getting Pippa her favorite coffee everyday. I hate how she sees herself as bland and unable to show love to people because she is so kind and shows love to people all the time. I related to her in that aspect. So anyway, I really liked this book, even though the miscommunication was maddening and made me want to slap the characters through the book. Solid 4 stars for me.
sooo sweet and cute.
avoidant teen girl + sensitive romantic teen boy, theo + other sweet, kind, good-at-consent teen guy, felix + healthy and close friendships and deepened relationship with emotionally mature and loving mom <333
loved that storyline included all the vocab words + alliteration
good banter
writer gave harper a full emotional arc. we got to experience harper's heartbreak, grief and lack of self-trust following a breakup, her developing a crush, asking felix out, dating him + the emotional roller coaster of feelings and self-reflection that brings, noticing new attraction to longtime best friend and neighbor, theo, being faced with felix's clear desire and stated need for a committed relationship that triggers abandonment issues, acknowledging her developing feelings for theo, theo leaving suddenly and taking space, sort of reaching out to engage him romantically and him rejecting her (by saying he only wants to be friends with her bc he doesn't want to ruin their friendship), realizing her obliviousness to theo's feelings for her all along, and mustering up the courage to profess her love and communicate with theo directly and doing the grand romantic gesture (bc theo is a hopeless romantic) ... UGH UGH UGH
