Big fat meh. Irish millennial graduates into a recession with an English degree and begins her adult life by dating emotionally unavailable men and dumping too many feelings on her gay best friend. Substitute "Irish" for "American" and "English" for "theatre" (equally useless degrees so is it REALLY a substitution?) and I'm this protagonist. Graduated college the same year, even. Some mildly interesting plot points happen but nothing groundbreaking, some characters threaten to be interesting but never quite manage it, and everything ends tidily. Snore. 2.5 taters 🥔🥔🍠/🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔

When something good happens to you at that age, you can’t settle with the notion that it’s a one-off. You want it to be the beginning of a tradition. That’s how I felt about that night: I wanted it already to be a memory, a foundational one, a first evening of many similar evenings. I wanted future nostalgia, a rear-view, years-old fondness for something that had literally just happened.

I don't know what to say, I loved this. It felt like heart wrenching gossip and I could not get enough.

Es fühlt sich die ganze Zeit an, als würde man ein altes Tagebuch finden und über echte Personen lesen. Das lässt einen so ziemlich alles fühlen und das ist doch genau das, was man von einem guten Buch erwartet?
