I found this a really lovely and contemplative novel, and a brilliant start to Ali Smith's Seasonal Quartet. I always love the emphasis she places on the relationships and the connections between people, and I thought that the connection between Elisabeth and Daniel was especially refreshing and beautiful in an age of stranger danger, and too much fear and paranoia. I'm really coming to enjoy this kind of format, where the focus is on the reflection and the experience and not on a particular narrative or story. Reading this felt exactly like the crispness of an autumn day, and the transition between bright, sunny summer and cold, lifeless winter - breathtaking!

a relaxing interesting read. sometimes it went over my head, but i blame that on me not paying attention. a very interesting story and i cannot wait to see what the other books entail.
