3.5 stars. This was very cute. It was fun and bingeable. It was a little juvenile. High school seniors on their last day. I thought the scavenger hunt was fun. The self awareness was pretty good. Little lesson on the Jewish community that felt a bit forced by author. Overall a really cute high school romance.
the mundanity of this book reminded me about everything i hated within the genre of romance.
the predicticality, the unoriginality, the lot it has all been done before and i’m starting to find it impossible to read a romance book that is to prove my theory wrong.
it is incredibly humorous when i read such a book that is categorized as “romance” and true to its word: includes a lot of sappy and unrealistic interactions that leave readers questioning the reality of our sexual and romantic beings. whilst accepting the genre as such, authors then decide to tackle extremely deep and triggering topics that they feel is somehow aligned with their trope? please make it make sense.
the execution of such attempts is very rarely if ever done well and i think all authors should just write in the style of red white & royal blue; a text that is consistently happy and the standard for romance.

Got 30% of the way in and mostly just couldn’t get in to the high school characters at my age (late 30s mom LoL)
