I liked this book quite a lot. It was a fast paced and entertaining ya romance book. I liked seeing the main characters get to know each other better. But I did think that their rivalry in the beginning was quite childish. Also the beginning was hard to get into because it felt like the author was info dumping about their rivalry. But it was also a bit predictable but it was mostly just an entertaining romance novel.

Honestly, I had five main problems with this book:
1) it felt like an adult romance squeezed into a young adult’s eyes.
2) the whole theme of Rowan’s romance novels and how nobody understands her and how it’s a feminism issue. Isn’t this set in the 21st century? Couldn’t she join GoodReads or a Facebook group or even BookTok? I have plenty of friends who don’t read romance because it’s not my whole personality and she’s just complaining all the time!
3) the chapter where they buy weed. Personally, I skipped over it because of personal beliefs but you might not have the same feeling about that.
4) how Rowan learns that Neil wants to change his last name. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think she continues to call him that in her inner monologue.
5) I just didn’t like Rowan’s character that much.

CUTE NERD LOVE STORY!!! This had me kicking my feet and giggling @ the cafe! (I stayed way past my bedtime to finish!!!)
Though I was already out of college when this came out, it really captured the feelings I had in those last days of high school way back in 2015... Which makes me think either some things are universal, or the author was also a nerd who graduated high school in the 2010s.
Also I've never been to Seattle but now that I know there's a chewing gum wall I might have to reconsider visiting... Truly one of the grossest things I have been forced to learn about!

the ending of this was a slay but the rest was only a partial slay
