As for love...no, having once written that word I can write nothing more. That quote resonates through the book. A woman trapped by social expectations, while imprisoned by the living ghost that are her mother, brother, and lovers. This book is a tragedy with a slight hint of obsudism and comedy.

This novel made me speechless. It was short and brief. I honestly like Naoji; he has been through much, and I felt so bad reading the letter he left for his sister. As for Kazuko, I think she is insane for writing to a married man asking to be his mistress.

I would certainly recommend this novel to anyone who is into absurd novels and historical fiction.
